Hello...I hope you are having a good week.  It is hard to believe February is right around the corner.  With that being said, this is a very busy time in first grade with lots of special activities going on.

Upcoming Events:

Open House is Thursday, January 30 from 6:30-8:30.  Please stop by at a time that is convenient for your family so your child can show you all the special work she/he has been working on.  I look forward to seeing you at this special event.

Thursday, January 31: January Read In

Friday, February 1: 100's day snack permission slip due and January Reading Calendar Due

Monday, February 4: 100's day snack item due

Tuesday, February 5: 100's Day (Look for a few notes to come home on Thursday with details about some special activities for this day.  These activities are optional.)

Thursday, February 7: Science Fair 6:30-8:00

Thursday, February 14: Valentine's Day party: School note with details was sent via email.  Class list of names and information was sent home on Friday.  Please let me know if you need a new copy of either.

Don't forget to turn in your Great America reading incentive when it is complete.  No late entries will be accepted.

Please sign and return the report card envelope.

Curriculum Update:

Reading: We continue to read stories related to our house unit.  We are working on making connections.

Phonics: We contineu to work on long a and the pl blend.

Writing: The students are writing about whether they would rather live in the city or the country.

Science: We are learning about penguins.

Math: We have begun working on place value.

Citizenship: We continue to talk about friendship, using kind words and hallway behavior.
